Since 2013, I have worked with and supported a range of institutions across the UK through tecsar ltd; please see engagements for examples.
Prior to that, I was employed for over 14 years at the University of Edinburgh, being promoted through various roles within the Academic Registry: the advert and further particulars to replace me as Director of Student Admissions and Curricula Systems illustrates the role.
I spent 3 years as Registry Manager at Moray House Institute of Education prior to its merger with the University, and over 7 years with the Scottish Tourist Board (now VisitScotland) in various administrative roles.
Moray House (awards validated by Heriot-Watt University) was Scotland’s leading teacher training provider, with c1800 FTE until merger with the University of Edinburgh. The University is Scotland’s largest and ranked in the top 20 in the world, with over 35,000 students representing over 27,000 FTE; it is highly devolved and complex, and is research-focussed. The breadth and depth of experience gained over 17 years at these very two different institutions stands me in good stead to contribute to the challenges within the sector.
I left the University at the end of December 2012 on the best of terms and with a very strong reputation as someone who always acted in the University’s corporate interest and delivered; testimonials from my peers and colleagues were humbling.
